Arsonist Sets Himself on Fire While Trying to Torch Store

This is the moment an arsonist tried to burn down a convenience store - but set himself on fire in the process.

The CCTV footage shows the man run around Supps R Us in Melbourne, Australia, with a jerrycan in his hand in the early hours of Boxing Day morning.

He disappears out the shot briefly before jumping back, a great deal more frenzied this time, with his leg ablaze.

After several failed attempts to stamp the fire out, he literally hot foots it away stomping at every step to stop the fire spreading.

The store completely burned to the ground despite firefighters trying their best to put the growing blaze out.

Neighbouring buildings were also reportedly damaged, but no one was hurt.

Police are appealing for witnesses and have released the footage to help jog people's memory.

The company wrote in a statement: "We wish to thank all of our loyal customers for all of their support, and we will be back up and running in no time."

It also tweeted: "LOOKING FOR A MAN IN MELBOURNE WITH BURNS TO HIS LEFT LEG. Call Crime Stoppers if you have any information!"
