Arrested For Attacking Singaporean With Machete, Two More On The Hunt

01.02.2025 - Police have arrested a local man after he was believed to be involved in an incident in which a Singaporean man was injured with a parang in Kampung Tengah here early Friday morning. Kluang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the 37-year-old local man was arrested at the scene at 6.10 am.

"Prior to that, the police had received a report of a man being injured with a parang at 5.50 am. A team of officers from the Kluang Police Station were rushed to the scene and managed to arrest a suspect. The results of the check found that the arrestee had seven previous records of criminal and drug-related offenses while the urine test was positive for methamphetamine," he said in a statement on Saturday.

According to Bahrin, two other accomplices of the suspect managed to escape and efforts to locate the two are ongoing.

"The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code (PC) which carries a prison sentence of two years or a fine or both if convicted. The suspect has now been remanded for four days until February 3 to assist in the investigation. Members of the public with information regarding this incident can contact any nearby police station for further action," he said.

Before that, a 45-second video recording went viral showing the incident of the victim being attacked with a stick and the window of a car believed to belong to the victim being broken.
