In Apulia, Italy, on the Brindisi - Lecce highway, an armed attack was carried out on an armored van transporting a large sum of money.

Armed criminals blocked the road, opened fire on the escort vehicle, and then attempted to get to the money with explosives, but failed.

Before fleeing in stolen cars (one of which had a flashing light), they scattered nails on the asphalt, but this did not help them. After a brief chase and shootout, three suspects were arrested, and three more are being sought.

There were no casualties. A carabinieri who was not on duty was injured when his car was sent into a ditch by the criminals as he tried to stop them.
