Akon threw a 15-year-old boy from the stage during an outdoor radio-station concert at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, New York, on June 3, 2007. Audience members said a spectator had thrown an object at Akon. After Akon asked the crowd to identify the person responsible, a security guard selected the boy and sent him to the stage. Akon lifted the teenager onto his shoulders and flung him into the audience.

The boy landed on spectator Abby Rosa, who was later found to have suffered a concussion. Fishkill police charged Akon with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment, a violation. He later pleaded guilty only to second-degree harassment and was sentenced to 65 hours of community service and a $250 fine. He received no jail time.
