A 9-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being caught in the middle of gunfire in her Prince William County neighborhood in virginia.

Surveillance video caught the incident and shows more of what happened, as well as how the young children in the neighborhood recognized that something was off. When watching, you can hear children saying to one another, “Who are they?” “A bad guy! Remember?”

The exchange between the children happens as four men dressed in all black walk down the sidewalk. Shortly after, a car drives by turns around and then backs into a parking spot before pulling away.

According to Prince William County Chief Peter Newsham, one of the four men shot at the car, and a stray bullet hit the little girl, who was airlifted to a local hospital.

“Her injuries are very, very serious,” he said. “She’s in the Intensive Care Unit in one of our hospitals, and we are just praying and hoping she will make a full recovery.”

Detectives are actively investigating the incident.

That is just sad to watch. All of them were on high alert and the one kid on the far left was already hiding behind the Toyota. What a childhood those poor kids are living. Hoping the child pulls through.

I have read that this little girl has left the hospital but has injuries that will last a lifetime. There was a stupid paywall so I couldn't see the rest, but sounds like (and looks like from the video) she 's paralyzed. She screamed she couldn't feel her legs.

The bullet was lodged in her daughter's spine, resulted in a partially collapsed lung and a torn liver, Freeman said in a GoFundMe campaign. She said her daughter has undergone several surgeries to stabilize her and is hoping she will soon start a full recovery.

The GoFundMe had raised more than $4,300 of its $20,000 goal end of May.
