9 Inmates Escape from a Military Cell in Venezuela
A mass escape of 9 inmates from the military cells of the Rural Command Detachment No. 119 Mi Ranchito, located on the Machiques-Colón highway in Zulia State, Venezuela, on the night of Saturday was caught on cam. Venezuelan security forces launched a massive manhunt in the Sur del Lago subregion. The current situation has resulted in three escapees killed in shootouts, two recaptured, and four criminals who remain at large. Jonathan Arias, José Robles Montes (a Colombian national), and Yeiner Durán were killed during armed confrontations with security forces during the search. Magno Oliviery and José Robles were successfully intercepted and returned to custody. |

Human rights groups in Venezuela have openly criticized the GNB for using these chicken coops and horse cages because they are deeply unhygienic, expose prisoners to the elements, and clearly provide zero actual structural security. It measures roughly 2 meters by 1.5 meters. It was originally built to hold maybe one or two people overnight before a transfer, but due to severe system overcrowding, they jammed all 9 inmates inside it permanently must be chest to chest. No wonder they bursted out at the first occasion. |
