The NYPD has arrested a suspect in the beating and robbery of an 81-year-old man in the Bronx.
Police say Cameron Roebuck followed the victim, Jose Rodriguez, into his apartment building last Thursday.
He then allegedly kicked and punched Rodriguez before fleeing with his jewelry and $30 in cash.
Rodriguez, who was recently widowed, suffered minor injuries.
The accused punk who beat down a defenseless 81-year-old Bronx man in a $30 mugging is a self-described street "hustler" obsessed with the nerdy Facebook game Cafe World.
Cameron Roebuck calls himself "Billy Bam" and told his on-line friends he was "going to start going to church" two days before cops say he kicked and pummeled Jose Rodriguez in a brazen robbery.
A tipster recognized Roebuck and dropped a dime, sending detectives to a building on Ellis Ave. in the Bronx where they busted Roebuck, who was squatting in the basement, sources said.
"He came around sometimes .... He kept to himself. But I never got a vibe he was violent like that," said Victor Tejada, a Roebuck neighbor. "I guess you never know who lives next to you."
Roebuck's mom in Morris Heights refused comment.
Her son, meanwhile, seemed to slip easily between his real world life of crime and his time in cyberspace.
Just 90 minutes before Rodriguez's vicious mugging, Roebuck was attempting to follow a chips and guacamole recipe and was praised by the Facebook game Cafe World for being on the way to becoming a "master chef."
In the hours leading up to his arrest, he seemed more concerned with his Cafe World obligations of filling pastry panels and cooking pot roast than getting arrested. His rap sheet, however, shows he's been working on becoming a menace to society, too, racking up six arrests since 2008 on charges ranging from assault to burglary.
He was last collared for a July 11 burglary of a Bronx apartment, according to a criminal complaint.
On Sept. 22, Roebuck let his Facebook friends know he is no angel. "I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, but I pay for them every day," he wrote.
