The burglary occurred at about 5:10 a.m. on Jan 23 2009 at Classic Designs inside the Glendale Galleria, said Sgt. C. Alpuerto of the Glendale Police Department.
"An alarm notified an employee and then we were notified," Alpuerto said. "They broke the glass to get in, and they broke into a bunch of the cases."
"They just went inside and started breaking a lot of display cases off to the left-hand side of the store and in the center of the store," Officer Selene Rickabaugh said.
The burglars, who were in and out of the establishment in about 2 minutes, used crow bars and hammers to get to the merchandise.
"They were all big guys, about 6-foot-tall, heavyset males," Rickabaugh said.
"We couldn't distinguish what race they were since they were all wearing black ski masks, baggy clothing carrying hammers and I believe a crow bar and sacks in their hand to carry the items away."
"The stuff taken wasn't high end," Alpuerto said.
"They mostly took bracelets and watches and various metal rings like platinum and lower end gold stuff.
They also took purses of unknown brands."
"The owner of the business, they said that most of their expensive valuable items they lock them away in a safe," Rickabaugh said.
"So they keep more of the not-so-pricey jewelry out in the display cases and lock those up.
They approximated there was a loss of about $150,000. That's what we have so far."
