20 Yo Son Kidnapped His Mom in Trunk Coz She Refused to Move with Him to Miami

Santee, SC - A Richmond man says he kidnapped his mother because she didn't want to move with him to Miami.

Dashcam video shows South Carolina troopers pull over a man in a rest stop on Interstate 95 on February 25.

The troopers order the suspect to get on the ground, then open the trunk where a woman is found inside.

Troopers had been looking for the Cadillac in connection with the Richmond kidnapping.

Regelio Lopez, 20, was taken into custody and charged with his mother's abduction.

In the video, the suspect asks officers to see his mother, tells officers he was headed to live in Miami and says he put her in the trunk because she didn't want to go with him.

"What made you do that?" a trooper is heard asking in the video.

"I was alone," the suspect responds.

The suspect tells the trooper he did not kidnap his mother. He says he went with a person to Florida two days earlier for work and came back to get his mom.

Lopez is now back in Richmond where he faces a kidnapping charge.
