20-year-old Man Shot Multiple Times After Charging at Orange County Deputies
Orange County sheriff’s deputies shot a 20-year-old suspect multiple times after he confronted his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, led law enforcement on a pursuit, and rushed deputies while armed with a gun and a knife. The incident began at roughly 2:30 a.m. at a townhome near Antonio Parkway and Cow Camp Road in Rancho Mission Viejo. A male resident called emergency services to report that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend was banging on the front door. The caller briefly opened the front door, saw the suspect reaching into his waistband, and immediately shoved the suspect back before slamming the door shut. After reviewing his home's doorbell camera footage, the current boyfriend confirmed to emergency dispatchers that the ex-boyfriend was brandishing a handgun. The armed suspect fled the residential area in a vehicle before responding deputies could arrive. Nearly 90 minutes later, at around 3:45 a.m., deputies tracking the suspect spotted his vehicle parked roughly 13 miles away at Rimgate Park on Rimgate Drive in Lake Forest. When deputies activated their emergency lights to initiate a contact, the suspect immediately sped away. A short vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect abruptly stopped his car, exited the vehicle, and ran directly toward a deputy's driver-side door while holding a firearm. Three deputies opened fire, discharging approximately 10 rounds. The suspect was struck multiple times and collapsed. Deputies immediately applied a tourniquet and administered life-saving medical aid at the scene before paramedics rushed the suspect to a local hospital in critical condition. Investigators recovered a handgun and a large knife directly next to the suspect's vehicle. No deputies or residents were injured during the entire event. The suspect will be formally booked into the Orange County Jail immediately upon his clinical discharge from the hospital. |

Re: 20-year-old Man Shot Multiple Times After Charging at Orange County Deputies
He’s a very fortunate individual. He’ll have stories to tell of his interactions with law enforcement to all the young and upcoming criminals in prison. He’s going to be there for quite a while. |
