I'm not sure about the dog in the picture but Hungarian Pouli are very large sheepdogs. I know a friend had one growing up in the 1960's Chicago area. They're sheepdogs, not the mopheads pictured, and were fierce flock defenders and very nice family animals. Haven't researched it but it's just what I know from experience.

that is a puli, youre probably thinking of the komondor; its the bigger version
