Cool 80s CJ-8. Never saw one without the roll bar but that might have been a cost savings omission for that country.

I park my vehicles in neutral. That said, I still tap the shift lever sideways when I do a reach-in start.

Re: Washing His Jeep and Turning on the Ignition

Several years ago my grandma didn't put her car in park and luckily I was there and was looking at her as she was talking. She'd just opened the driver door to get her purse when the car started rolling backwards off the carport, the car door taking her ass along with it. I got to her just as the back wheels come off the carport and it was going down the driveway. I had no choice but to fling us both to the ground. It continued down the driveway, across the street, down a steep ledge, over a big bush, a tree stump and 15-20 more feet until it hit the neighbors house. I never even got a thank you. She still treated me like shit and done me dirty.

She started some shit one time and I told her I regret pulling her from that car

I'll post a pic of the car if I find it. Rear corner was smashed good but the house, and us were ok. I imagine that car door would have closed in on her and she would have fell, possibly getting run over as it barreled down the driveway. If uve had to get out of a car on a hill, front facing up, you know exactly what I mean.

You're a Hero!

Gram probably secretly blamed you for the whole event by distracting her into forgetting to put the car into park. I think old minds work that way.

Re: Washing His Jeep and Turning on the Ignition

When I was in high school, I worked at a gas station. I lowered a car down off the lift, then did a reach-in start. It chugged forward into the garage wall, smashing the grill. I asked my boss how much that damage going to run me. He said, "nothing." Then he jerry rigged the grill and painted it with black spraypaint. I felt bad and never trusted my boss after that.
