Tv Reporter Bob Aaron Reports on Massive Coal Polluted Creek Fail Moment
West Virginia television reporter Bob Aaron was reporting on the massive of coal slurry that spilled into a creek this week, and took an unfortunate spill of his own.
Fields Creek turned black after 108,000 gallons of coal slurry after a pipe at Patriot Coal’s Kanawha Eagle Prep Plant broke because of ice buildup.
By Wednesday, the sludge had flowed one-half mile down the the Kanawha River “before dissipating.” Another six miles of creeks were also impacted.
WCHS’s Bob Aaron’s was broadcasting from the bank of one of those creeks on Tuesday when he lost his balance and tumbled backwards into the black water.
“Oh, God,” he gasps, as he slowly stands to reveal black muck covering his jacket. “Goddammit.”
A note posted by the station assured viewers that “Bob is OK and says he can even laugh about it now.”
