These Chinese Electrical Buses Are Hard to Unplug
On July 15th, a man, finding the standard charging stop procedure too difficult to understand, forcibly pulled the charging gun, which was locked by the device's locking mechanism, instead of pressing the stop button on the charging station's interface and waiting for the circuit to disconnect and unlock. The pulling and breaking of the locking clip instantly severed the high-voltage circuit, generating a large white electric arc at the interface. The man was immediately electrocuted, suffering extensive charring, skin rupture, blisters, and ulceration on both hands, accompanied by severe electrical burns and muscle spasms. The incident also caused the charging gun's metal contacts to melt and turn black, and the insulation layer of the bus's charging port to burn, severely damaging the entire fast charging interface and incurring high equipment repair costs. Standard DC charging guns lock when powered on; the standard voltage for bus fast charging is 500-750V. |
