Taking Dad's Ducati for a Spin Results in £5000 Bike Damage

My Family including my dad whom is the owner of the Ducati were enjoying a warm holiday over in turkey.

Me being young and dumb found this to be the perfect opportunity to take his bike out for a joy ride.

Unfortunately i kick the kickstand up but no enough so it fell back down againresulting in the crash as i go to turn left.

Yes, i know i shouldn't have ridden it but i have ridden for many years, since i was 5. so its not like a lack of experience which caused it.

Now im putting this video on here for you all to see so that it may prevent other acts of stupidity for many who may find it to be a good idea to go for a spin on their ol' mans pride and joy.

The bike cost me little over £5000 to repair and is now once again road worthy. Money that could have gone and bought a track bike and been able to run it for more then a year rather then a 1 minute like i did on the Ducati.

Just like to say to you all, take care and remember to ride responsibly and learn from my expense.

Phew! that would have been a awkward moment. “Dad The Ducati 996 is repairable” I Can imagine the silence on the other end of the phone.

The video was missing one thing...the reaction of the dad.

He didn't last no more than 15 seconds, and it was probably a blessing in disguise for him before he'd opened that bad boy up...what a plonker

It fell apart rather easily. I expect £5k isn't much to the likes of them, but you know what they say, wealthy people are the tightest fisted bastards around.

Always check your kickstand. I've watched a couple of friends of mine do the same thing on their farm dirt bikes. Proud to say, never happened to me. But I did sail off a hidden drainage mound in the middle of a paddock once.
