Re: Smartass Bird

While it's funny on the surface it's pretty depressing because that's with the parrot hears his whole life that's why they mimic it. so either someone's talking to the bird that way or people are talking to each other and the bird over hears it. My former father-in-law had an African Grey Parrot and they are incredibly intelligent, as smart as a small child. And they will repeat anything they hear a lot. His parrot was smart enough to know that when you went for the door in the house you were leaving and it would say something like "be good Gracie" or "be back soon". Which is what he would say to it. When he died we took the parrot for a month while we found a new home for it. It would speak in ex wife's father's voice which was very disturbing but you also got a very intimate glance of his life based on what the parrot would say. It would also make farting noises which obviously meant that he farted a lot around it. That part was funny.
