I think the bird was just stunned and recovered. A huge woodpecker hit our front window in the US, made a terrific bang when it hit. When I went outside it was laying on the floor on it's back. I picked him up and held him till he started to come around. Glad he was okay. Poor thing. His beak was massive! Closest I ever got to holding a wild bird with a beak that size!! |

I think all birds do that. If you place them on their backs, and they are scared enough. Magicians used to exploit this.
