Re: Potential Car Buyer and Owner Checking Things Under the Hood Before...
probably put the handbrakes on but forgot to remove gear from drive then they messed with the accelerator cable in the fuel device(carb/ injector, etc) to hear the engine rev up up close. seen that happen a few times to other cars in the repair shop.

Most likely a stupid automatic transmission, and it wasn't put in "park" or whatever toy cars have, properly, then it jumped into, "Drive" or whatever. Pointless things automatics.

Re: Potential Car Buyer and Owner Checking Things Under the Hood Before...
Park is usually way above the drive in a/t as the shift order from top to bottom is usually Park, Reverse, Neutral, then Drive. some have drive 1 and drive 2 under neutral. So if they tried to put it in Park and not shifted well, it would do reverse first before it goes neutral or drive. im still betting its on drive but they put the handbrakes on. it will not move if its in idle even with the drive gear on. but if it was revved up a bit, it will go on forward once the wheel turned a little. even with the parking brakes on. happened a lot to me when i was first driving AT car. :) |

What difference does it make? Unless you're driving a race car, and want to feel the exhilaration of downshifting the 1600cc Toyota to go from 80-120kph in 15 seconds... With AT I can drive to work in the morning with a coffee in one hand, ciggie in the other, driving a manual is just a pain in the arse in comparison. |
