Re: Nervous Pig V's Stairs

They actually grow up to be pretty big

That's a teacup pig in the video. They're more for companionship than agricultural use. They don't get much bigger than the one in the video either. Just a wee thing.

He'll do anything for oatmeal.

Re: Nervous Pig V's Stairs

Cute little buggers. They grow big though... that looks like a Landrace piglet, in which case that'll be 400lbs fully grown.

Re: Nervous Pig V's Stairs

Shellbeano, actually, that is not true at all. Teacups/Micro/Mini/blah blah blah are actually very large and get to be over 100 pounds. I've done my research on them for several months. You notice how none of those breeder websites have photos of the parents, just the cute little pigs? That's a warning sign on any breeder site (except perhaps insects).

They don't stay that cute for long and if you don't know how to handle a pig, they can become aggressive and destroy your home. That $5000 pig can be bought for a lot cheaper without the brand name. Once I get my own house and acreage, I plan on having potbellies (which is what these "designer" pigs are). I plan on trying to educate people.

Also, for the record, if one does happen to see the parents of a litter of piglets, chances are that the parents are still less than a year old and not at their full adult size.
