India's First Drive-through Hydration Station
India, The Public Works Department faced significant public backlash after constructing a road around a functional hand pump, leaving it standing in the middle of a newly widened thoroughfare. The hand pump was left on the road stretch between Doodhnath Tiraha Junction and Vindhyachal. The road widening project was reportedly fast-tracked to accommodate the expected rush of pilgrims for the upcoming Navratri festival at the Vindhyavasini Temple. Local residents and commuters highlighted that the hand pump posed a serious hazard, especially at night due to poor lighting, forcing vehicles to take dangerous turns to avoid it. Following public outcry, PWD officials and contractors began dismantling and removing the hand pump eventually. |

Re: India's First Drive-through Hydration Station
When I first read this, I was assuming it was one of the local female barflies, lurking on the road. I laughed when I realized that it was ACTUALLY THE TOWN PUMP LEFT IN THE ROAD! Silly me!! |
