Someone spat in my face once. I was walking along the footpath when I noticed a guy across the road that I went to school with. He used to be a bully but I thought shit man that was years ago. I'm going to be more social and walk over and say hi. I said hi man, remember me, we went to the same school, how are you. There was an uncomfortable moment of silence and then he spat in my face. He then just continued walking down the street. I had always thought that if ever someone spat in my face I would instantly attack them. That didn't happen though. I stood there in absolute shock staring at him as he walked away. I felt so weak and powerless in that moment. It's amazing the impact it had on me.

Damn, that really sucks. Some people never grow up. Don’t be hard on yourself though. I know it must have stung pretty bad at that moment, but you took the high road and I think that’s way more admirable in the end.  |
