The end of a cigarette doesn’t have enough heat to start a fire in gasoline. You can toss a lit one onto a puddle of gas and it’ll go out like it was water. Not enough heat. https://www.scienceabc.com/eyeopener...line-fire.html |

This is true. My teenage nephew demonstrated this to me years ago when he poured gasoline into a styrofoam cup he was holding then dropped his lit cigarette into it and nothing happened, and he exclaimed, "SEE? I TOLD YOU SO!" then the gasoline ate a hole in the bottom of the cup and splashed onto his jeans. Axiom: Only the very young and the very old know everything. (But that guy in the video looks like the type to light a cig while at the pumps) |

As other guys have posted, needs a naked flame to ignite vapours.. although I wouldn’t take the chance, which is easy as I don't smoke anyway. |
