its ridiculous, there's NO excuse for having a fat pet like that... its entirely the owner's fault. maybe you can't control YOURSELF from eating, but you can certainly STOP feeding your pet so much. Same as those 90lb toddlers... no excuse, they aren't feeding themselves!
