'My street cred has gone right up': Hull woman caught plummeting from window ledge in viral video speaks out

A woman who fell from a window ledge in west Hull has said her 'street cred has gone right up' after the incident was captured on a video which went viral on social media.

Helen Caddis, 47, was trying to get into an upstairs window at her friend's house in Clifton Gardens, off St George's Road, when she slipped and fell backwards, flipping over a bin and landing on her neck.

Luckily she was unhurt, despite suffering a few grazes on her arms and 'a bruised backside'.

Her friend Vicky Stevenson, 38, only realised she had forgotten her keys when the pair arrived at her home and Helen, who lives in Carrington Street, volunteered to try and get in.

On the video, Vicky can be seen supporting Helen by holding up her foot at first, before walking away moments before the dramatic fall.

She explained: "She said to me, 'I'm up I'm on the ledge,' then all of a sudden I heard a crash and a bang.

"I nearly peed my knickers, I couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't help it."

Helen said: "All she did was sit there laughing at me, I couldn't believe it.

“When I first felt it, I felt my head hit the concrete and I was just laying there.

"Once I got up they said to me 'do you want to sit down?'

"But I said, 'no, I've got a bruised backside.'"

Despite the pain, Helen then managed to cycle back to her house to pick up her friend's keys and let them both into the house.

The video of the incident, which was taken by a neighbour, was posted at 6pm on Tuesday evening and was viewed more than 1.5 million times in 24 hours.

It has since amassed more than three million views.

But far from being embarrassed, Helen has embraced her newfound fame.

"My street cred in Hull has gone right up," she said.

Neighbour Jane Thompson, 60, said she started recording the pair attempting to get into the house because 'it was an accident waiting to happen'.

She said: "Once I saw her fall I dropped my phone. I thought, 'Oh my god she's dead.'
"But then she just got up and walked away."

Having been the first one to post the viral video, Jane said she is still getting a Facebook notification about it every second.

She said: "I woke up on Wednesday morning and there was 300 notifications from just that video.

"I'm tired of it all now to be honest."
