I'll tell you. A tazer is not effective when the aggressor has a jacket on, out of range, has a hostage, on stimulates, plum crazy, super fat, in a vehicle, using cover.
accuracy is reduced if they are running (away or towards you),if they have a weapon they can injure you even if they are on the ground after a taser deployment (a knife-i have deployed lots of taser cartridges and a lot of the time they clutch their weapon as they hit the ground). Now, I'm not saying that tasers cant be effective but in most cases if your life is being threatened you dont get a chance to react with non-lethals. In this case he had a shirt on, he still was close (distance is key when someone has a knife,hammer, crow bar etc) Even armed with a firearm someone charges you within 20 feet, your in trouble. and despite clearly being on drugs the taser worked in this case but he still had to subdued.

now, what if the taser was not effective and he charged them like a bull with that crowbar;well we are on DR so you know what could happen next. it is better to stop the threat ASAP so you or bystanders do not get killed or injured-just the nut bag attacking you.
