CCTV footage has shown the horror moment an escalator in a mall in Malaysia went into reverse sending shoppers flying. A group of people at a shopping centre, believed to be in the Klang Valley of Kuala Lumpur, were flung backwards when the stairs suddenly became faulty, The Rakyat Post reported. In the footage uploaded to Facebook on Sunday, about 20 people - including one woman carrying a toddler - tumble backwards on top of each other. Viewers expressing their disbelief over the incident on Facebook were quick to speculate about what may have caused it. "The escalator step chain snapped. Technicians should have serviced each escalator in the premises," commented Rony Faudzi. Faiz Craig Arzhari said it happened due to weight overload on the escalator. Others urged the shoppers involved to sue the management of the shopping mall for not maintaining the escalator properly. It is not known if there were anyone was injured in the incident. |
