It's for protection. An unloaded gun protects no one. I have a shotgun under my bed. Currently it's unloaded but I used to always have a round in the chamber. One friend found it while I was out when I let him stay and watch tv. He was pissed at me because he did the exact same thing I see in this video. He just put his hand on it and pulled the trigger.
