On Thursday of December 16, 2011 Tropical Storm Sendong [Washi] hit the Island of Mindanao, Philippines.
The storm brought 10 hours of torrential rains that triggered disastrous flash flooding.
The major ports of Cagayan De Oro and Iligan experienced the worst hit, with more than 135,000 persons affected: 976 fatalities, 1603 were injured and 46 listed as missing.
