Re: Diving Turtle Gets Perfect 10
In my humble opinion the diving skills of this turtle leave much to desire: a dive like that (which is one of the easier if not the easiest at all), is classified as 101A (jump forward, straight with no rotations nor spinning). Basically, all you have to do is a splash. But the turtle complicated her task because she was too fast while taking the run: yes, it sounds crazy for some turtle, but that is what really happened. According to some calculations made @ NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, she took the run at some average speed of about 200 kmph (approx. 124.28 mph). See image # 1. A dive may end in 3 different ways: one is the good, two are wrong, always. You have four basic points of reference: two are static, two are not (see image # 2). Static points of reference: 1 - Bridge 2 - Water's level Dynamic points of reference: 3 - Turtle's head 4 - Turtle's asshole The turtle made a mistake of less than 40°, enough to ruine her dive, though. |
