Mobile phone footage of a Labrador chasing deer in a park while his irate owner runs after him has been viewed more than half a million times on YouTube.
In the 47-second film, the runaway dog takes no notice of the man who apparently shouts 'Benton' in an increasingly angry voice as he helplessly chases after his pet - and the dozens of deer being pursued by it.
As the man, who is dressed in a beige coat and jeans, comes into shot he is also heard to exclaim 'Jesus Christ' as more frightened animals join the herd and run across a road, forcing traffic to come to a standstill.
As the video became a talking point across the world, social networkers began to lock horns over whether the dog-owner is screaming ‘Benton’ or ‘Fenton’.
The matter has apparently been cleared up after the 13-year-old boy who shot the video came forward to say he thinks the hound is called Fenton.
Jake Goodyear, from Holloway, north London, was visiting the park with his father, Ali, last week, when the incident unfolded.
Mr Goodyear told the Telegraph the pair had found it ‘very funny’.
He added: ‘I don’t know if there was a happy ending because he ran off into the distance.’
However, it seems it is no laughing matter for bosses at Richmond Park, who insist dog owners have a legal responsibility to keep their pets under control on Royal Parks grounds.
Adam Curtis, assistant manager at Richmond Park, continued: 'To do so [owners] must know the temperament of their pet.
'If there is any doubt about how they would react to being around deer or other wildlife then they should put their animal on a lead or risk prosecution.'
The clip, which has been seen almost 504,000 times, is titled Jesus Christ in Richmond Park, and has become a popular topic on social media sites such as Twitter.
It has also spawned several spoofs on YouTube, including one where the man's voice has been mixed with a scene from Jurassic Park where dinosaurs are being chased by T-Rex and one of footage of stampeding wildebeest.
