Coritiba Striker Joel Falls into Hole in Ground During Goal Celebration
Most strikers are said to wish that a hole would open up in front of them after they had missed a chance.
For the Cameroonian striker Joel, the reverse was true when a hole unexpectedly opened up for him while he was, in fact, scoring two goals for Coritiba.
Having broken away to put the ball past the São Paulo goalkeeper Denis, Joel celebrated by vaulting the advertising hoardings at the back of the goal with the aim of running towards the bank of home supporters.
Unfortunately he hadn’t checked out the area behind the goal and promptly disappeared into a huge hole.
After being helped out by stewards and team-mates, the 20-year-old did at least manage a surprised gasp in front of the astonished fans though he did manage to see out the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 win in the Brazilian Serie A showdown.
