A few videos of some clever Cockatoos.

1. Umbrella 'too barking like a dog.

2. Wild Yellow-Crested 'too bringing some friends for a snack.

3. Either an Umbrella or Moluccan 'too unscrewing a nut from a bolt.

4. Hard to tell but looks like a Yellow-Crested 'too plucking plants off someone's terrace.

It's The Birds: The Cockatoo Cut. My nephew had an African Grey named Felicia years ago who learned to perfectly mimic their ringing telephone which they'd answer constantly throughout the day. You can bet that after a while there was a lot of "The Phone" That Cried Wolf and lots of missed calls

Our smartest birds are cockatoos and parrots, with palm cockatoos and budgies in the lead. Close behind are ravens, crows, bowerbirds and magpies. Even some smaller birds, such as wrens and honeyeaters, score surprisingly well on the intelligence scale.

The last three feature sulphur crest cockies (cockatoos). I am looking at a few in my backyard as I type. The noise they make is next level hideous but they are fantastic characters. They seem to enjoy pulling up tiles, chewing wooden fences etc for the sake of being annoying. They have worked out how to open bins and efforts to thwart them usually fail. I saw one grab a lorikeet by the tail and just swing it around in a circle once for about a minute.

A friend installed one as some arsewipe was stuffing around with her car. Turned out it was the ex. Anyway the camera lasted two days. Great footage of two cockies chewing it to bits.

Yeah, I heard that of all the parrot species, cockies are NOT the ones to get as pets if you like your quiet time. Their scream seems to emanate from Hell itself and the Seven Circles of the Damned

'Too's are the chainsaws and sonic weapons of the bird world. I will put it this way... I've had parrots in my home for 20 years... I have certification in their behavior and care... I've done more research on parrots than I've researched any other subject on the planet... and I have never been brave enough to bring one into my home.

This is one of the larger species of cockatoo, the Moluccan. The video doesn't even come close to how loud they can be.

Having said all this... they can be extremely sweet and hilarious.

Yeah, there's no parrot type quite like a cockatoo when it comes to pure entertainment value A repost from a few months ago but it's still one of the funniest parrot videos I've seen
