A bear attacked a TV presenter after she sneaked up behind it on a show about how dangerous wild animals can be.

Prior to the attack Bonya the bear constantly being fed treats to try and keep it in line.

The animal, wearing a red and yellow skirt and hat, was being looked after by his female handler in a red flamenco costume.

They were appearing on the Russian TV show Pro Lubov, which translates as About Love, at the studio in Moscow.

The audience can be heard cooing as Bonya performs a few simple turns and starts to look more like a giant cuddly toy than a wild animal.

But then a young woman, presenting the show, approaches Bonya from behind for a stroke.

She touches her lightly, but perceiving a threat, Bonya instantly whirls around and lashes out with her huge claws.

The bear's claw gets stuck in the woman’s clothing and she crashes down to the floor.

Bonya does not seem interested in pursuing the fight as her handler pulls her away.

The handler can be heard saying: "I warned you, do not approach the bear."

The woman, who manages to get up on her own and does not have any visible injuries, only says: "I am sorry."

The cameraman can be heard saying: "I will be staying away from the bear, just in case."

Pro lubov is a daily talk show aired on the First Russian channel.

You know, you just KNOW her mindset, even after the apparent fact that the trainer pre-warned her not to approach the bear, was "Oh yeah, now we're in front of the audience and I'm TOTALLY gonna be the "cool one" in the room and just waltz up to this bear like we've been friends forever and just stroke her fur like the unafraid bad ass I am."

Lol!! Everyone else was being smart and simply admiring from a distance but she just had to be THAT person. Too much fun!!!
