Absolutely Amazing World Record Breaking LipDub Video (Must See!)
I'm not posting this simply because it was filmed in my city and because I was there but because this LipDub is hands down the greatest one out there. I challenge you to find one better! The project was born in 2011 when Newsweek ran an article entitled "known local celebrity in this city decided he'd respond to Newsweek by putting together this amazingly well choreographed, one-take LipDub. They decided to use a live version of Don McLean’s song “American Pie” for the video in a subtle way to mock Newsweek's claim Grand Rapids was a dying city since the song is basically about death. The day the video was uploaded online, Newsweek almost immediately issued an The video went on to be nominated for an Earnie Award - a new award for social media campaigns, winning the 2011 award for Best Use of Video in Social Media. The video broke the record for the largest and longest lip dub video ever made. I share this video with you to give you an idea of what a great city I live in and how awesome the people here are. I am damn proud to be a member of this awesome community and dying or not, Grand Rapids is a great place to live! |

Re: Absolutely Amazing World Record Breaking LipDub Video (Must See!)
Yeah, it was definitely a fun experience. I didn't even know they were filming this until I headed downtown to take my weekly walk along the river near the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum (the area in the video where the helicopter took off). All the roads in the downtown area were shut down so I couldn't get to the museum and asked a cop what was going on and he told me they were filming a music video and said if I wanted I could talk to one of the people in charge of filming to see if I could be in it so I talked to the guy and he said yeah and put me in Rosa Park's Circle where we did the little pillow fight. It took a few takes before the video was completed and it was really hot that day but it's an experience I'll never forget. Thank God for being at the right place at the right time, huh? |

GR is awesome! I have an antique store in SW Michigan and get a lot of my antiques from there. Although, years ago I was heading out on a road trip to Portland. Traffic was in Dead lock heading out of the city going north. There was a Chicago station giving away Weekend stays in GR as first prize. The chick on the radio said hum?...I wonder what 2 prize is...2 weekends in GR?...lmao...always thought that was funny. |
