4WD Rolls Off the Back of a Ferry and Plunges into the Ocean Near Fraser Island
New year celebrations for a group of backpackers hit a dampener when their four-wheel-drive fell off the back of a barge near Fraser Island today No one was aboard the LandCruiser at the time, but it is understood belongings including passports and mobile phones were in the car at the time. Tourist Jemason Greenwood, who was on the barge, said it happened about 10.15am just as the barge was leaving Inskip Point. “The driver must have forgot to put the handbrake on, so it just slid into the water before they could bring up the ramp,” Mr Greenwood said. “The car sunk completely in about three minutes and the only thing on the water in that area was a jetski so nobody could really do anything about it.” Emergency services were not required to attend the incident. Manta Ray Fraser Island Services declined to comment. It is understood the vehicle will be retrieved from the water. |

Re: 4WD Rolls Off the Back of a Ferry and Plunges into the Ocean Near Fraser Island
I used to have a Ford 150 with an old straight six in it. Long story short the cable for the parking brake broke. No problem just leave it in gear.... Years later when the motor was really warn i watched it, and heard it creep, down the driveway into oncoming traffic. There wasn't enough compression left to hold the weight anymore. It kind of just hopped skipped and jumped down the drive. You could almost count the revolutions on the motor as it shimmied its way to its demise. But damn those old ford 300 six bangers used to run forever.
