SS Parade Footage in Germany, 1930s-40s
Black-and-white footage from German city streets and a parade venue shows SS formations marching in helmets and packs, black-uniformed drummers, troops passing a saluting officer and a reviewing stand decorated with an eagle emblem. Other scenes show massed formations from above and smoke or clouds. Some of the black-uniform parade scenes appear to date from the prewar period, roughly 1933 to 1939. The Waffen-SS name came into use in 1939-40. |
