Marine Juan Valdez-Castillo Shot by Sniper in Karmah, Iraq, October 31, 2006
US Marine Lance Cpl. Juan Valdez-Castillo was shot by a sniper during a joint patrol with the Iraqi Army in Karmah, Anbar Province, Iraq, on October 31, 2006. The bullet passed through his right arm and torso, but he survived. Valdez-Castillo served with Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, and later received the Purple Heart at Camp Lejeune. Photographer Joao Silva documented the shooting and rescue in a 12-image sequence. The photographs show Valdez-Castillo falling beside a muddy, water-filled ditch as another Marine scans for the sniper. Fellow service members then drag him through the ditch, remove his equipment and treat his wounds. He remains conscious as pressure is applied to the bleeding, then is lifted to his feet and helped toward an armored Humvee. The series received an honorable mention in the 2007 World Press Photo contest's Spot News stories category.

I hope the order from the one glorious German colonel to bomb two hijacked tankers in Afghanistan killed as many fucking Taliban and Taliban supporters as possible! Now they're all crispy, as all fucking Taliban assholes deserve to be. USA & Germany are the best team! I hope you will be the next idiot who will burn like a stupid piece of charcoal.
