Galloping Gertie: Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse, Washington, November 7, 1940

The first Tacoma Narrows Bridge twisted apart in strong winds and its center span fell into Puget Sound on November 7, 1940, about four months after the suspension bridge opened. The bridge crossed the Tacoma Narrows between Tacoma and the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington and had become known as "Galloping Gertie" because of its movement in windy conditions.

No people were killed. The only death was Tubby, a cocker spaniel trapped in Leonard Coatsworth's abandoned car. University of Washington professor F.B. Farquharson attempted to free the dog but was bitten. Period photographs and newsreel footage recorded cars crossing the moving deck, the bridge twisting, the center span falling and the cables left hanging after the collapse. A replacement bridge was completed in October 1950.

Re: Galloping Gertie: Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse, Washington, November 7, 1940

you can see the one guy walking along the bridge in the one clip. the car was abandoned by a family earlier, it says their dog was too afraid to come out of the car and as a result was the only casualty as a result of the colapse

From the first video:

"Miraculously not a single person was fatally injured"

Is it possible to be injured fatally? Doesn't he mean killed?
