Abu Ghraib Hooded Man: 2003 Photo, Published 2004
The Hooded Man photograph was taken at Abu Ghraib prison west of Baghdad, Iraq, on November 4, 2003. It shows a hooded detainee wearing a blanket-like poncho and standing on a cardboard box with wires attached to his hands. A court-martial prosecutor said the prisoner feared he would be electrocuted if he fell. Staff Sgt. Ivan Frederick is credited with taking the photograph during abuse by members of the U.S. Army's 372nd Military Police Company. The photograph was first broadcast publicly on April 28, 2004. The detainee's identity remains disputed. U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command records identified him as Abdou Hussain Saad Faleh, nicknamed "Gilligan." Ali Shallal al-Qaisi was publicly misidentified as the man in 2006 but said he had been photographed in a similar pose. U.S. investigators also reported that Satar Jabar was among several former prisoners who claimed to be the man in the photograph. Frederick and several other soldiers were later convicted at courts-martial for their roles in the abuse at Abu Ghraib.

No kidding. When you think about the things some of these people have done you start to realize they deserve far worse than this. The prisoners at Abu Ghraib have no rights -- they're monsters.
