Warren Clement Brown, 57, was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 27 years in the 2019 stabbing death of his girlfriend, Sophie Solis, 43, in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Brown and Solis lived together on Organdy Drive North. Police described their relationship as violent, and officers were called to the address 17 times during 2019, mostly for domestic disputes and violations of injunctions Solis had taken out against Brown. An investigator called it a "very, very violent relationship." On November 9, 2019, Brown slashed Solis' arms with a knife. He was arrested, posted a $15,000 bond and was released under an order barring him from contacting her or coming within 500 feet of her. He was later convicted of aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill for that offense.

Solis was last confirmed to be in contact with anyone at about 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Florida Department of Corrections records list November 19, 2019, as the murder offense date. On November 21, friends who could not reach Solis went to the house and found Brown's Cadillac under a car cover in the driveway. They opened the trunk and found her body.

Solis had been stabbed. The trunk also contained photographs of the couple, bloody paper towels, a blood-stained men's robe with the name Warren on it, and a leather slapjack with biological material on it. Investigators found blood spatter on the ceilings of two rooms inside the house. Officers had been called to the address the day before her death over a reported suicide threat.

The St. Petersburg Police Department investigated, and the death was ruled a homicide. Brown was arrested on the evening of Saturday, November 23, 2019, and charged with second degree murder. Further charges of aggravated assault, domestic battery and violation of pretrial release were reported, and he was held without bail. During an interview that day, two detectives told Brown that Solis was deceased and at the medical examiner's office. They pressed him about his lack of visible distress and took him through the night step by step as he said he could not remember. Police stated that after being read his Miranda rights, Brown admitted stabbing Solis and placing her body in his car trunk.

Department of Corrections records for Brown, DC number Y81014, show two Pinellas County sentences imposed on November 2, 2020. He received 27 years for second degree murder, described as "2nd deg. murd., dangerous act," in case number 1914185, with an offense date of November 19, 2019. He received five years for aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill in case number 1913623, with an offense date of November 9, 2019.

Brown entered state custody on February 9, 2021. He is held at Sumter Correctional Institution and has a projected release date of January 30, 2045. He was not sentenced to life without parole. Whether the convictions came by plea or jury verdict is not established.
