Terreionna Paschal Questioned in Todd Morgan Killing

Terreionna Shavonn Paschal pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in the shooting death of Todd A. Morgan at his Hudson, Ohio, home and was sentenced on September 19, 2024, to life in prison with parole eligibility after 23 years.

Morgan, 41, was an assistant professor in the business department at Cleveland State University and had two young children. He lived on West Streetsboro Street and had bought the home in February 2022. Prosecutors said Morgan and Paschal, of Cleveland, met online in April 2023 and had known each other for only a limited time. She was 31 when indicted and 32 at sentencing.

Hudson police found Morgan dead at about 7:20 p.m. on April 19, 2023, after going to his home for a welfare check. He had been shot multiple times in the head and torso. Prosecutors said the two had agreed to meet there and Morgan let Paschal in, so nothing would have led him to suspect what followed. Hudson's police chief called the killing an isolated incident. No motive was made public, and the prosecutor said only Paschal knew what happened before the shooting.

Detectives linked Paschal to the scene through phone records, mobile apps, DNA and ballistics evidence, placing her at the home at the time of the shooting. She was arrested in May 2023. A Summit County grand jury indicted her on aggravated murder with a gun specification, tampering with evidence, misdemeanor theft involving Morgan's cellphone, and misdemeanor attempted theft of cash.

In the police interview, Paschal was read her rights, said she did not remember Morgan, and denied shooting him, according to the video captions. Officers raised DNA, cell phone location data, app messages and payment records. The date of the interview was not given.

Paschal pleaded guilty in Summit County Common Pleas Court on September 18, 2024, the morning her jury trial was scheduled to begin. Judge Alison Breaux imposed the sentence, and Paschal was placed on Ohio's violent offender registry. Morgan's mother, Sandy Morgan, addressed the court, and Paschal said she was sorry. The disposition of the remaining tampering and theft counts was not publicly reported. No later development has been publicly reported.

The video is an interview-room recording that runs about 106 minutes. It presents the police interview itself and opens with a short narrated introduction naming the people involved.
