Miguel Amari Bush Questioned in George Dallas Jr. Shooting

Miguel Amari Bush and Chasjuan Darrel Antoine Allen received prison sentences in the case of George Dallas Jr., who was shot at an Orlando, Florida, apartment complex and died three days later.

Dallas was 18 and lived at the Orlando on the Lake apartments on South Ivey Lane near West Gore Street. Orlando police were called to the complex at about 8:30 a.m. on June 28, 2019, and found that Dallas had been shot in the neck. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died on July 1, 2019. Police released few other details, and news reports did not describe a motive.

Bush was 18 at the time of the shooting. Florida Department of Corrections records list his birth date as December 2000, making him an adult when the offense occurred and when he was charged. He was taken into custody on July 23, 2019, and booked on a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm. Allen was 20 at the time of the shooting and 21 when the Orlando Police Department Fugitive Investigative Unit arrested him on August 7, 2019, on a first-degree murder charge. Officers said Allen was the person who shot Dallas.

In the recorded interview, a detective identified in the video as Detective Fields advised Bush of his rights and questioned him. Bush initially said he had only walked past a car linked to the shooting. The detective told him that his blood and fingerprints were inside it and that the car had been stolen from an Ocala dealership at 4:44 a.m. on the day of the shooting. Bush then said he had never claimed he was not in the car and that he would not have been caught if he had not gone to Texas. The vehicle details come from the interview, while the video's uploader claimed that a phone dropped at the dealership led police to Bush. Those details were not confirmed in news reports.

Florida Department of Corrections records list both men under the same Orange County case number, with an offense date of June 28, 2019, and an offense entry of second-degree murder. Allen was sentenced on February 18, 2020, to 17 years in prison. Bush was sentenced on August 25, 2021, to 14 years. The department says its offense descriptions are truncated and may not reflect the exact crime of conviction. The records do not show whether either man pleaded guilty or was found guilty at trial. Bush's projected release date is July 2033, and Allen's is September 2034.

The video is a police interview-room recording that runs about 95 minutes. It presents the interview itself and opens with a short narrated introduction naming the people involved.
