Kimberly Feyhl Questioned in Richard Schnepf's Death

Kimberly Nicole Feyhl, 49, was charged on September 18, 2025, with first-degree murder with a deadly weapon enhancement and first-degree arson in the death of Richard Kenneth Schnepf, 43, at their apartment in Issaquah, Washington, and the case remained pending as of the latest reporting.

Feyhl and Schnepf, known as Ricky, lived in an apartment on Shangri-La Way NW in Issaquah, in King County. Reports described them as roommates who had dated on and off for the past few years, while another account described them as live-in partners of three to four years. Feyhl's sister said Feyhl had struggled with mental health and addiction for years.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at the apartment complex shortly before 8 a.m. on September 16, 2025. A sprinkler had activated, and Schnepf's body was found in a back bedroom. Early reports gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma and injuries from the fire.

Prosecutors allege Feyhl killed Schnepf. According to the statement of probable cause, she told police she took an ax into his bedroom while he slept and struck him in the head multiple times. She said she then poured rubbing alcohol on him and used a lighter to set a fire.

Feyhl was found sitting in a nearby playground. Charging papers say she identified herself, admitted starting the fire and told officers she had killed her roommate. She said she heard a voice she took to be God, believed Schnepf was a demon and believed fire was needed to kill a demon. She said she had waited for him to come into her room and acted when he did not. Police reported finding an ax with blood and hair under a mattress, a bottle of rubbing alcohol on Schnepf's bed, a lighter in Feyhl's possession and blood spatter in the bedroom.

During a police interview on September 16, 2025, Feyhl discussed voices and religion, said she used an ax on Schnepf, estimated that she struck him about 30 times and said she put the ax between her mattresses. She was arrested that day.

Feyhl pleaded not guilty at an arraignment in late September 2025 and was held in King County Jail on $3 million bail. A court date was set for October 9, 2025. No trial, verdict, plea resolution, competency ruling or sentence has been reported. The charges are allegations, and Feyhl is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The video contains the police interview-room recording and runs about 59 minutes. It presents the interview itself and opens with a short narrated introduction naming the people involved.
