Darryl Jerome Walker Sr. Questioned in Levine's Death

An Escambia County jury convicted Darryl Jerome Walker Sr., 38, of second degree murder with a firearm in the shooting death of his wife, Sheena Marie Levine, 35, and he was sentenced to life in state prison on November 21, 2025.

Walker and Levine lived at an apartment complex on Meadson Road in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. Walker had eight prior felony convictions and had been released from prison on May 29, 2022, about 18 months before the shooting. The couple had two children, a daughter and a son, who were not at the apartment when Levine was shot. Both are named in local reporting and both testified at trial, but they are not named here because their ages could not be established.

At about 5 a.m. on November 22, 2023, the day before Thanksgiving, Walker told Levine that he had been unfaithful and had contracted a sexually transmitted infection. Levine was killed by a single gunshot to the head. Walker did not call for emergency help and instead called his children to the apartment.

His daughter found her mother lying on her side by the bathroom door, covered in blood and without a pulse. She testified that Walker said he could not go to jail, then hugged Levine's body and picked up the firearm. His son testified that he told his father to leave the house and later said he regretted letting him go. Walker left with the gun.

Walker fled with the firearm and was arrested in Marianna, Florida, by the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, according to the State Attorney's office the day after the shooting. He was returned to Escambia County. In a police interview later played for the jury, Walker maintained that the shooting was an accident. He said Levine retrieved a firearm from the bedroom after he admitted the affair. During a struggle, he said, he took hold of both Levine and the gun and removed the magazine, but did not know a round remained chambered. He said the weapon discharged when Levine pushed against his chest and that his finger was never on the trigger.

The medical examiner documented entry and exit wounds at the top of Levine's head. Prosecutors argued that the autopsy findings were inconsistent with the struggle Walker described. They also cited his failure to summon help, his flight with the weapon and the children's testimony about what he said and did immediately after the shooting.

Assistant State Attorney Amy Shea tried the case in Escambia County. The jury deliberated less than an hour before convicting Walker as charged. He was sentenced the same day and designated a prison releasee reoffender. No appeal is recorded.

The video is the police interview-room recording itself and runs about 59 minutes. It opens with a short narrated introduction naming the people involved before presenting the interview.
