Alyssa Bradburn Questioned in Father's Killing

Alyssa Bradburn, 33 at the time of her trial, was convicted of first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement and sentenced to 340 months in prison for shooting her father four times in their northwest Spokane, Washington, family home.

Bradburn lived in the home with her dogs and had no prior criminal record. Her father, Timothy Bradburn, owned a condo in Hawaii and had been staying there. She also has a brother, Trace Bradburn.

Timothy Bradburn returned from Hawaii on June 25, 2024. Prosecutors said Alyssa Bradburn had planned the killing for about three weeks, practiced aiming in the house, got help loading the firearm at a gun range, and began journaling about it four days earlier. She locked away her dogs, put on safety glasses and earplugs, and shot her father twice in the chest and twice in the head after he entered the home.

She called 911, said her father's body was in the entryway, and told the operator she would wait outside for police. Officers took her into custody at the scene. Evidence included the 911 call, her statements, the journal and the gun range practice.

During the recorded interview, Bradburn described her family and home, said she had been considering her options with voices she hears, and claimed she had been abused and acted in fear. She initially claimed self-defense, alleging her father was abusive and violent toward her dogs.

Bradburn was charged in Spokane County Superior Court and waived her self-defense claim before the verdict. At trial she testified, "I killed Tim Bradburn, and I am guilty." On March 2, 2026, after about two hours of deliberation, a jury found her guilty of first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement.

Trace Bradburn told the court that the abuse accusations had tarnished his father's memory. Bradburn's defense attorney cited her mental health and requested 240 months, while prosecutors sought 380 months. On April 2, 2026, Judge Julie McKay sentenced her to 280 months for the murder plus 60 months for the firearm enhancement.

The video is a police interview-room recording that runs about 70 minutes. It presents the interview itself and opens with a short narrated introduction naming the people involved.
