Aisling Tucker Moore-Reed Questioned in Uncle's Death

Aisling Tucker Moore-Reed pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in May 2020 for fatally shooting her uncle, Shane Patrick Moore, at a family property in Jackson County, Oregon, on July 26, 2016.

Moore-Reed, who wrote as Tucker Reed, was a Jacksonville, Oregon author and former journalist. She was 26 when arrested in July 2016. Her mother, Kelly Moore, and Shane Moore were siblings who were disputing their mother's property on Thompson Creek Road in the Applegate area. Moore-Reed obtained a restraining order against her uncle in September 2015 after an altercation in which he was arrested on suspicion of assault.

A notary was called to the property on July 26, 2016, to witness Shane Moore sign a quitclaim deed that would have split the property between him and Kelly Moore. Kelly Moore tore up the document. Moore-Reed then shot Shane Moore once, killing the 63-year-old.

Moore-Reed's phone recorded the encounter in a clip lasting under 10 seconds. A detective said Shane Moore was "just standing there doing nothing." Testimony indicated that Kelly Moore said her brother was physically assaulting her at the time. She was never charged with any crime.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office arrested Moore-Reed on the day of the shooting on charges of first- and second-degree manslaughter. In the recorded interview, two detectives introduce themselves as Medford Police. Moore-Reed tells them early in the questioning that she has PTSD and daily panic attacks and had taken two prescribed Klonopin before coming in.

Moore-Reed was released on bail. After investigators reviewed the recording on her phone, a murder charge was added in 2018. A judge ordered her held without bail in January 2019. While free on bail, she appeared under a stage name in the independent horror film "From the Dark."

Under a settlement, Moore-Reed pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the second degree, resolving the remaining charges, including murder. On May 27, 2020, a judge sentenced her to 75 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections and three years of post-prison supervision. She was held at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility with an earliest release date of November 25, 2024. She was separately charged in 2020 with supplying contraband and unlawful possession of heroin. No outcome has been publicly reported.

The video is a police interview-room recording running about 124 minutes. It presents the interview itself and opens with a short narrated introduction naming the people involved.
