How can you say how someone is to act at a funeral? Funeral is a generic term, not a specific one. It varies among culture and religion. Funeral tradition in the US is based on the burial of Jesus just as in many christian european nations.. People think emblaming is some type of norm but in reality for it's not. If anything that's more of a US thing dating back to the civil war. How can you criticize someone just because they smiled at a funeral? If you gather to celebrate ones life laughter can be a part just as much as sorrow. Not everyone runs a farce where people put on fake emotion just to follow a norm. People cry when they are happy too, but if someone laughs it's automatically disrespectful? Imo in American culture a traditional funeral is simply chosen because that's what seems usual. It keeps the funeral home open. With no consideration to the actual ceremony and meaning of what's going on with the wake and viewing by the mourners for example. In the biggest religions greater life begins after death.

The family looks like they are Mormon or Evangelical perfect maybe too perfect, granted this is Monday Morning QuarterBacking but I bet that perfection as a family was too much for the daughter.
