i have looked into the laws on this matter, i guess if your not embalmed, you dont get an open casket due to disease and stench. I want to have open casket, but i have a weird thing about if your embalmed then you cant come back as a ghost if you want. and i would love to be a ghost. but anywayz, thats all. carry on

Actually, embalming isn't allowed in the Netherlands. (Something to do with the chemicals contaminating the water table). Even a few days decomposition can really change a persons face but I agree, it looks like there was some damage to the face (what's that discolouration around her neck?) Perhaps a family member did her makeup and couldn't get hold of the proper mortuary spray foundation and other kit so they just used normal makeup? It looks like a pretty DIY affair. Actually it looks like she's got a bunch of coldsores around her mouth. Surely if they bothered to put makeup on they could have tried to cover that shit up?
I like open coffins...but not in this case.
