ive always found it wierd when people bring cameras or video to a funeral. maybe its just me? but when do you play the video again?
I think that taking pictures and videos at a wake is not widely done here in the US and I could never imagine photographing a dead family member. Seems to be the custom in Latin American countries.

Check out YouTube sometime, it not only happens but sometimes the videos get posted there.
Last year, a former neighbor of mine died in a car accident. The last known picture of her alive was with her granddaughter. At the viewing, someone got a picture of the same granddaughter looking into the coffin. It was soft focus, only the girl was in focus, and truly one of the sweetest pictures I've ever seen.
