Looking At Dad In Casket

Jonathan, left, and Salvadore Garcia, right, hold Freddy Garcia's daughter Breanna, now 4, up to view her father's corpse in a casket at Freddy's memorial service at All Souls mortuary on Friday Oct. 7 2011
I realise there are Freddy Garcia's in the sporting world but am unsure who this particular man was.

It is an NPPA: Best of Photojournalism 2012 Still Photography winner (click for bigger).

I wonder what that little girl is thinking, bless her

Wow, beautiful! And tastefully done too.

Kudos to the photographer!

Re: Looking At Dad In Casket

I think that's a genuinely touching image, thankfully lacking the in-your-face tearjerking aspect. Sad yet serene and beautiful find.

Re: Looking At Dad In Casket

I just ran across a link from the hospice thread in Human Deformities. This is picture #25 in the article. Very interesting set of photos.

Yeah, I would rather have recollections of the good times on video and pictures....
